External contacts are individuals, such as employees of companies that you do business with or direct customers. Genesys Cloud automatically creates a temporary or ephemeral contact during an interaction when a match does not exist. In Architect, use the Promote External Contact action to promote an ephemeral or identified contact to a curated contact. The Promote External Contact action is available in call, email, messaging, workflows, bot flows, and survey invite flows. From a new or existing flow, open a task or state. From the toolbox, expand the External Contacts container and drag a Promote External Contact action into the task editor.
- The Promote External Contact action changes the external contact type to a curated contact. To identify the type of an external contact, flow authors must use a custom data action.
- You can promote an ephemeral or identified contact to a curated contact only once. Any subsequent attempt to promote an already curated contact fails.
